JUST LOVE MAKING BOXES!

Christmas was here again, and it was time to sort out some Christmas table goodies.  The theme this year was snowmen and after a lot of thought I came up with these.

They really did look spectacular and as you can see held a nice quantity of goodies, which went down very well.

The smaller crown topped boxes were made using a freebie template kindly supplied by Waltzingmousestamp which I customised to fit my Christmas/New Year theme.  They are super easy to make and take two Ferrero Rocher sweeties. Yum!

Now I have a template for the petal box, I am looking to make a downloadable file for the Christmas version and also for a generic box with an editable name tag, so like mine, the boxes can be personalised.

SO WATCH THIS SPACE . . . .!

REGARDING 'CLEVER' CARDS . . .

Over the last couple of years I have experimented with and made many different 'clever' cards and been been happy with the idea that they would stand out and look impressive when displayed on someones mantlepiece.

However, in the last few days I've noticed that unfortunately, even when given instructions as to how these cards work, the recipient seems unable to get to grips with how they should be displayed.  Easel cards seem to be the most common culprit.  I've seen them on their sides, flat and bent into all kinds of shapes.

The problem was really hightlighted when my friend (who had sent one of my cards to her son) mentioned that he had remarked 'Sheila's cards are really getting clever now but you need a degree in design to know how to put them up!'
O.K. - point taken!

I'm now giving very careful consideration to making my cards 'out of the envelope - pop - all set up and on the shelf'   No thought required.

After all if you've gone to the trouble of making it and sending it, you want it to be the one in the middle of the display and not on the side because no one knows what to do with it!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

We have had the most amazing Christmas, managing to get all the family together which made it all the more special.

Looking back, I don't think we could have asked for a better year than last year and 13 seemed to have been our lucky number!  It also helped that our traditionally unpredictable and usually wet summer was, for us, wall to wall sunshine.  What more could you ask for ;0)

So here I am already to embark on 2014, and it's two weeks in already!

My New Years resolution was to have a  spring clean and a purge of all those little bits of this, that and the other that I've been saving - just in case......
Well, for once I've actually done it!  I've been ruthless and the bags for the hospice shop and the local dump are standing by the door to prove it.

So now I've done my bit and my halo is all shiny, I can get back to being my usual happy hoarding self.

Happy New Year!!
